I have to update the Honfest website today. Hampden’s Honfest 2009 is right around the corner and we met to begin planning it last week. I’m excited to come up with some fresh graphic design ideas for the marketing material. Last year was fun, and this year will be even better!
One of the ideas we had was to create a juried gallery in the alley next to Cafe Hon. There is this huge, rustic, wood door that is designed to close off the whole alley. When you open it, it sits against the brick wall that stretches back another 30 feet. We’ll be hanging work there and in some other neat places too if we get enough work!
The theme for the show will be, “What is a Hon”. I’ll post on www.honfest.net and here when more specific details are available.
My FAVORITE idea is the giant hon-head made of RHINESTONES! I’m building a vertical platform, the size of a piece of plywood, priming it, and tracing the Honfest logo that was designed a few years ago by Nina Merkel on to it. It will be like a paint-by-number, only festival goers will glue plastic, colored rhinestones in to their allotted spaces.
In the end we’ll have a communally developed, giant, rhinestone hon-head.

I am updating my site and I was wondering if I could paste a small version of the Honfest logo thats in the upper corner of their site as a link to their page. As designed I am not able to “borrow” the logo. It will be used strictly as a link to the honfest site.

I’m a student at Chicago Portfolio School studying graphic design, and I’m working on a promotional poster for Honfest ‘09 for one of my classes. I was wondering if there was some way to get a copy of the logo (I absolutely love it) in some sort of high-res or illustrator format so I can incorporate it into my school work. If someone could e-mail me and let me know, I would really appreciate it!

cat, you can use a clip of the logo for your site, and thank you for the complement. there is info on web design on the web and seo page, and if you have any other questions just ask!
and annie i will email you a file. if you want to send the file when you’re done we may be able to use it around hampden if its far enough out!
