A hair salon located in Baltimore Maryland: NV Salon Collective is a collaboration of like-minded professionals offering salon services in a friendly and relaxing environment. Created by Nikki Verdecchia in August 2009, NV Salon Collective is an opportunity to put to practice the experience she has accumulated over her 17 year career as a stylist.

The logo and branding design for this project was inspired by the feel of the space and the personality of its creator. It is a tribute to clean design, and a bona fide classic a logo.

Banner Design

I recently designed this 2×5 banner for Recycled Love Rescue. The dog-starlet photographed and featured on the banner is ~~Francie~~ I mean…Frida.

Several months ago, Frida was in an accident involving a drug raid, and was shot several times in the face. She had a broken jaw, and damage to one ear. For a while, she ate though a feeding tube, but in true pitty-fashion, she healed with super-speed and is doing fantastically well.

The darling formerly known as Francie has moved to her forever home where she was renamed Frida and is currently living happily ever after with her awesome new people.

As for her adorable face and ginormous ears: Recycled Love Rescue will exploit the cuteness at future adoption events in an effort to remind people to give the gift of adoption

I’ve launched a new project. Its mission is to take great pictures of dogs (and cats too…shhh) and to raise money for local animal rescues in Baltimore. My hound-dog Bailey and I share a vision of no more homeless, OR abused pets. Cruel things happen in this town and in this world. Though some of those things are really tough to look at, if it weren’t for the brave heroes who are willing to look, and to help, nothing would ever change. Check out the site and send your friends. We are plugging along in plans, and coming up with some awesome new ideas for this year;s festival. Mount Vernon’s First Thursday Art Show

I did a postcard for Kelly Walker this week. It’s for her upcoming show at Donna’s Coffee Bar. Her new work features a line of canvas and painting styles that are abstract and fun, while still elegant and sophisticated in their own right.

The opening is on May 7, 2009, First Thursday in Mount Vernon. Opening the new First Thursday season is New Hampshire based indie band, Wild Light. Also on the program is Philadelphia singer-songwriter, Matt Duke. The music starts at 5:30 PM, and Donna’s Coffee Bar is at 800 N. Charles Street, so stop by the opeining too.

Logo Design

My friend Heidi at Colonial Companies needed a new logo for one of their properties. It is a property that Colonial recently purchased, and Heidi felt like it was in need of a fresh, new image that was more representational of the neighborhood and its local culture.

Greater River Valley Townhomes is located in Montoursville, Pennsylvania, and is bordered by the West Branch Susquehanna River. It was named in memory of Elizabeth Catherine Montour, a Native American leader residing in the town that used to be called Otstonwakin.Montoursville is also recognize in reference to the TWA Flight 800 that exploded in 1996, while carrying on board 16 students from Montoursville High School.

In response to Heidi’s request, I came up with 3 logo versions that brought together the symbolism, color and emotion that I felt captured the history and legacy of Montoursville. She and her colleagues at Colonial Companies chose the following logo as the centerpiece for the future branding of the community. More marketing collateral is to come, but for now:

Auto Details Design

My friend Kelly at Baltimore Artstar is very proud of her new mode of transportation. Up until a few months ago, she drove this magnificently HUGE, very ORANGE van. When she bought a Honda Element recently, she discovered exactly how much space she had lost, and decided to buy a Trecker Trailer from Brooks Ramsey RV in White Marsh. With new space in which to stow her decorative painting gear, she was on on a mission to brand the trailer with her new graphics, which were designed by Springray.

Kelly is very attached to her logo, so that stayed the same, sans a minor face-lift. Everything else about her image, however, has been totally overhauled. As a result, Kelly’s new brand feels fresh, clean, professional and uplifting. Her new web page is ranking at the top of organic Google searches for Baltimore faux-painters, and people are LOVING her new auto details.

Billboard Design

Recently I was sought out by a property development company called Colonial Companies to develop a fresh billboard for their 55+ Active Living Community in Conowingo, Maryland. They wanted a design that was original and catchy. The problem that they faced was low traffic as a result of the billboard in its previous version.

I spent some time thinking about what I wouldn’t want to do anymore at 55, despite my active nature and drive for life… STOP MOWING THE LAWN! So there you have it.

Colonial Companies has reported increased traffic since the billboards went up near the Conowingo Dam and just south of Pennsylvania.

I went up last week with Bailey to take some photos of the Billboards. Unfortunately it was a really grey day, but I got some cool shots of the Mason Dixon line and the Conowingo Dam along the way.

On the way home we stopped to have dinner with Gran, which is always awesome.
